If we cannot come to terms with waste and make something positive out of it, then it may just be our end. Of all the things we can do with waste, the one thing we cannot do is make it disappear. Nor should we. The repression of waste, without a shift in the habits of production, consumption and distribution, is not only impossible, but undesirable. As capitalist processes have demonstrated in extremis, it is the network of our habits surrounding waste and its production that requires reconfiguring. This reweaving occurs in the rifts of production cycles and systemic overflow. Our relationship with waste is as important as its relationship with us.
